Are You Bored?

Don't you get tired of hearing kids, youth and others say they're bored? Maybe you've even said it yourself; I have. What a sin! Let's look at some things Gods tells use to pursue. If we are doing this, we would not have time to be bored. Anyone can do it: crippled, young, old, in church, at school, hanging with friends, sitting around being bored, etc.

Many times God's word tells use to seek peace. If you're doing that, you can't be bored!

Psalms 34:14 "Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it." NASB
  • Keep on keeping on!
2 Timothy 2:22 "Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." NASB
1 Peter 3:11 "And let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it." NASB

Just turning from evil and handling that struggle (if we truly are) should be enough to keep our minds busy; but add seeking peace to it and it is a 24 / 7 job.

Peace is also one of the fruits of the Spirit:

Galatians 5:22-23a "But the fruit of the Spirit (Holy Spirit) is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." NASB

Look at something interesting:

Galatians 5:25 "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit." NASB
  • Walk the talk

That should keep us busy as well. Jesus Christ not only walked the talk but fulfilled prophesy when he died on the cross. Part of that prophecy was making peace. This is noted in:

Colossians 1:19-20 "For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fulness to dwell in Him (Jesus), and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in Heaven." NASB
  • It is that important!

This is also worth all the time we give to the concept since God sent his only son to achieve peace in earth as well as in heaven. This is another thing God lets us take part in!

Some benefits and of peace:

Proverbs 14:30 "A tranquil heart is life to the body, But passion is rottenness to the bones." NASB
Psalms 85:10 "Lovingkindness and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other." NASB
  • Wow! This is the basis of Mercy!
Numbers 6:25-27 "The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace" NASB
  • Truly this is a present from God Himself!
Psalms 119:165 "Those who love Thy law have great peace, and nothing nothing causes them to stumble." NASB
  • I need this promise because I stumble often. Forgive me Lord.
Ephesians 6:15 "... and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. NASB
  • Peace is also protection from your enemy!
Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." NASB
James 3:18 "And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." NASB
  • This results in a harvest of righteousness
Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" NASB

Peace is not in the Ten Commandments but God sure does talk a lot about peace. Seeking it, pursuing it, holding on to it at all cost - peacemakers and their rewards. There are many, many verses pertaining to peace. If you dare say you're bored what will it hurt to take the time to look them up and study them a bit. Not all verses are about the pursuit of peace or the blessings of peace. That's just what I've chosen to write about to you today.

You can also learn the command of:

  • How to hold on tight to it.
  • How in the end times peace will be taken from the earth and the chaos that it causes.
  • One of the names of God includes peace.

You could go on and on with just this one, wonderful subject and not grow bored! Plus, realize all the blessings you have! Without even knowing it. You have hidden the Word in your heart like a treasure. Amen
