Spiritual DNA

DNA is very unique physically and spiritually. It can tell you what family you are a part of. Who your father is, what your personality make-up is, etc. Your Spiritual DNA was given to you when you accepted Jesus Christ as you personal Saviour. That's when you became a part of the body of Christ. Romans 12 will help reinforce this statement. He sent the Holy Spirit to live in you and also equips you with everything you need to accomplish every opportunity he presents to you.

  • The church was just getting started (Acts 2:42)
  • Day by day they spent time breaking bread and having fellowship (Acts 2:46)
  • The believers spent time praying together (Acts 2:42)
  • Helping each other developed unity (Acts 2:44-46)

We not only have responsibilities but opportunities: so don't blink and miss the chance to glorify God! We have children, grandchildren (and they grow up so fast), churches, schools, shelters, and so many things in our communities where we can take the opportunity to make a difference. It's in your DNA to do so. God is your Spiritual Heavenly Father. You have his DNA.

Don't miss it, Don't blink, Don't give away today!

  • 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 1
    • God talks about the body - He knows every inch of it - He created it.
  • Colossians 1 & 2
    • God talks about using the DNA for Christian service - to connect with people, grow people & serve people.

Do you want to live out the DNA of the body of Christ? Impacting the world? The values building in you are not what you do, but who your are. It's similar to the twist that works don't save you, but if you're saved, you'll want to do good works. Same thing here. Who you are changes as you act out the values of your Spiritual DNA!

1. Biblical Authority Scripture stands up against anything

2nd Timothy 3:13 "But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." NASB
  • People are swimming up-stream spiritually - crystals, Hinduism, paganism, etc.
  • God doesn't give a rip about what we think works, and He never asked us. He tells us what works.

2. Unity One Lord, One faith, One baptism

Romans 12:4-5 "For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." NASB
  • Do you ever feel less important than others in the body of Christ? Quit it!
  • Think about your little toe - doesn't seem significant at all. As a matter of fact, you think you could cut it off and it wouldn't matter. Have you ever hit your little toe on something in the dark? It becomes the most important thing. It controls what comes out of your mouth - what you focus on - what you think about. It has control of your thoughts.

3. Passion For People Encourage one another

Luke 19:10 "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." NASB
  • The world says look out for yourself, but Luke tells us differently.
  • He also reminds us to Love God heart, soul, and mind; and also to love your neighbor as yourself.
  • Do you care enough that people all around you are dying?

4. Spiritual Growth Lessons in grace, understanding and thankfulness of the Lord Jesus

Colossians 1:9-10 "For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God" NASB
  • You still have the chance and opportunity to get better acquainted and closer to your Heavenly Father through the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Learn your Spiritual DNA. You are a key in the church of Jesus Christ.

5. Ownership Submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ

1 Corinthians 12:26 "And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it." NASB
  • We are a member of the the body of Christ - but we must remember He is the head.
  • We are more than shareholders. We are part of His plan. You are an owner and may go straight to the head in prayer --- God. Shareholders don't have this privilege.
  • Out of love and obedience follow the Holy Spirit's leading.

God gives you His full attention because you are an owner.

  • Live, act, and exist as an owner
  • If you just sit there, everyone looses out

What do you need in order to make a difference?

  • Use your DNA of God given resources
  • Have the heart of King David to pursue God
  • Believe - One person is able to make a difference
  • Follow and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit
  • Prayerfully contemplate the purpose God has for you

You have Heavenly DNA
