Has God Amazed You Lately?

Have you looked? Have you read?

Since the beginning, He's been doing amazing things!

  • Genesis 1 - Creation
  • Genesis 8 - Noah's ark and the flood
  • Exodus 14:16 - The parting of the sea
  • Exodus 16 - Manna from heaven
  • Daniel 3 - Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego saved from the fiery furnace
  • Daniel 5 - The hand writing on the wall
  • Daniel 6 - Daniel saved from the lion's den
  • Matthew 14 - All who touched him where healed
  • John 11 - Raising Lazarus from the dead
  • Luke 24 - Jesus Christ raised from the dead

If these few things, (of which there are many more) don't jar your thoughts on how amazing He is; then let's look in Philippians 2 at what Jesus (God's son - part of the trinity) was willing to do for us.

Philippians 2:1-2 "If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose." (NASB)

He left the perfection of Heaven to come to a sinful world. He united with us. That's a lot of love. Who would even think of doing that.

Phillipians 2:3-4 "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." (NASB)

He left unlimited power in Heaven to treat us better than we treat him. He thought of us first, before himself.

Phillipians 2:5-6 "Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped" (NASB)

He left his Father in Heaven to become an example for us. He gave up his equality with God to become a teacher on earth. He came to teach us how to get closer to God, and to be an example for us.

Phillipians 2:7 "But emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men." (NASB)

He went from being a ruler to becoming a servant. Can you imagine that much love from both father and son? For a father to send his son on this mission, and for the son to leave the splendor of Heaven and become a lowly servant?

Phillipians 2:8 "And being found in appearance as a man, He umbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." (NASB)

He went from wealth to poverty. He humbled himself to the lowest of mankind. He went from being wealthy in the glory of Heaven to owning nothing on earth.

Phillipians 2:8b "He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." (NASB)

He went from being worshiped in Heaven to being spat on (Matthew 27:30) and rejected. Then he was crucified on the cross! For you and for me.

He came so that we might life! An amazing God in so many ways.

God's been loving us and performing miracles since the beginning of time! He's been loving, forgiving, merciful, teaching, and saving souls so that we might eat at the banquet table with him on that glorious day. He's done all the work, even sent His son! He defeated death, on our behalf. Most Amazing love and creator and Father.

Amazing God - how can it be, that you alone would die for me!
