He Loves You That Much

We've heard many cliches about love.

  • Love is a many splendored thing
  • Make love not war
  • I love you this much
  • I love you more today than when I married you.

The list goes on. But let's think about the unconditional agape love of God. If you have children, you know how much you love that new life that is a part of you. I've heard my children say, "I didn't know you could love this much." God loves even more than that. Sometimes we just need to be reminded of that fact. In these troubled times it is a good time to reflect on His love for you.

Trust Him

Do you trust your parents? Most of us have an adult in our lives that we can trust. But it's even better that we have a living God to trust

Isaiah 44:2 Thus says the Lord who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you, Do not fear, O Jacob My servant; And you Jeshurun whom I have chosen. NASB

When facing a situation, we can remember that the creator of the earth is the same God that formed us in our mother's womb. He knew us before we where born and has loved us unconditionally since then.

Study Him

Once we realize who God is and come to the saving knowledge of God's grace, it's a whole new world.

Matthew 16:19 "I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven." NASB

If we look at the verses before this we find Jesus questioning His disciples.

Matthew 16:13-16 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He began asking His disciples, saying, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" And they said, "Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." NASB

Imagine being given the keys to Heaven. Well, you have them!

Know Him

We know about a lot of different kinds of love.

  • We love our parents
  • We love our pets
  • We love our nation
  • We love our school or our college
  • We love our best friend

The list goes on. These are all different kinds of love.

1 John 3:16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. NASB

Now that's love. Jesus knew from the very beginning how his life would end, and was willing to do the task out His great love for us. He came to save us. He knew He would be rejected and treated cruelly, but He was willing to lay down his life for us. Amazing love!

Rely On Him

We rely on different people and different things to make it through our lives:

  • Parents
  • Teachers
  • Books
  • College
  • Tools
  • Friends
  • etc.

But the one person who will never let you down, and knows every hair on your head is God. He has made us so many promises, and God never goes back on his word! That is Biblical.

Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account. NASB
Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NASB

Rest assured that you can't be plucked out of His hand. Even when we mess up (such as King David), we are not separated from God's love. His love is everlasting.

Choose Him

We have many choices to make in life, but none as important as to where we will spend eternity. In choosing life with Jesus Christ the Lord, you're also influencing your family to make the same decision. This leads to the makings of a legacy.

1 Peter 2:21-25 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of our souls. NASB
Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. NASB

How can anyone not want this kind of deep, unconditional love? It doesn't take much to get it, as a matter of fact it's free for the asking.

Accept Him

We accept a lot of things. Sometimes I hear people say things like:

  • "Well, that's just how things are these days"
  • "I expected as such"
  • "It's only going to get worse."

Often these things are said so nonchalantly. You do not have to accept the things of this world. You have been given another option.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. NASB

Can you imagine that much love that you would send your only child to die a horrible death just so others could enjoy the place where you live? As a child we sang the song titled "Deep and Wide". One of the verses is about the love of God being both deep and wide. God's love is longsuffering and sufficient. He is always there and open to everyone. Just ask, believe and know that you are His. Yes He loves you that much. He made knowing Him this easy!
