March 17th 2020 Edition: Luke 7 & 8; Psalms 26
Luke 7 & 8 Summary: We are taught the value of having faith in Jesus. Jesus demonstrates this as He affirms the Centurion by healing His servant. The compassion of Jesus is demonstrated in the healing of the widow's son. Jesus began to be known by the fruits of His life. Jesus explains John the Baptist's purpose in preparing the way for His ministry. Jesus is anointed with alabaster by a sinful woman who sought Jesus out while He was at a Pharisee's home for dinner. Jesus restores her to faith and then uses this as a teachable moment to the people He is with. This woman's actions show she has been forgiven of her many sins and has entered into the family of God. Jesus teaches on the snares people face when hearing the word of God. This is a caution for us to be attentive in our Bible study (both personal and corporate). Our love for Jesus shows in our actions. This is our silent witness to a hurting world. Jesus takes authority over the storm which threatens His disciples while they travel. When they reach the shore Jesus frees the demon possessed man who greets them in the region of Gerasenes. Jesus continues to heal all who reach out to Him with perseverance. Psalm 26 Summary: King David prayerfully considers his life. The witness of this Psalm shows how King David yearned for the things of God. It is a guideline for us to fashion our life after.
