March 18th 2020 Edition: Luke 9 & 10; Psalms 27
Luke 9 & 10 Summary: Jesus continues to teach His disciples and sends them to share the good news. A crowd forms as Jesus teaches and heals many people. It is late afternoon and they are isolated from a near by village. Jesus performs a miracle feeding the crowd with five loaves of bread and two fish. Peter's great confession that Jesus is the Christ is next. Following this Jesus begins preparing His disciples for His impending crucifixion. As Jesus prays with James, Peter and John near by Moses and Elijah appear and speak with Jesus. Again Jesus speaks to His disciples about His impending crucifixion. He prepares His disciples for the cost of following Him. Jesus continues to train up and commission many of His followers. The stage is set for the birth of Christianity. Jesus prepares His followers for salvation being open up to anyone who calls on His name by sharing the parable of the Good Samaritan. We learn a valuable lesson from Martha and Mary. It is alright to spend time at Jesus feet being renewed and refreshed. We don't always have to be doing. Psalm 27 Summary: The Lord is our safety net. We may call on His name for help when we face trouble in this life. He will prove victorious in the test of time. We need to equip ourselves with the study of God's word and apply the precepts to our lives.
