March 23rd 2019 Edition: Luke 17 &18; Psalms 31
Luke 17 & 18 Summary: In this life we will face challenges. When it comes to sin as Christians we are under obligation we aren't to stumble our brothers or sisters by tempting them in ways contrary to God's Word. Additionally when someone acknowledges their wrong doing towards us we are to offer them forgiveness. Jesus continues to provide us with examples of how to use our faith in daily living. Jesus begins to prepare His disciples, and in turn us through the study of our Bibles, on the end times. Not everyone will have accepted Jesus as their personal Saviour. Jesus has encouraged us to mature in our wait while living out our skills and talents while we wait for His return. Through the use of parables Jesus shares the importance of being persistent in our faith and sincere before God in prayer. As a child trusts so must we trust our Heavenly Father. In order to do this we need to not make our security in material possessions, but rather have the precepts of God's Word as the foundation of life. Jesus continues to prepare His disciples for His impending crucifixion. As we persist in the study of God's Word our faith will mature and influence our life. Psalms 31 Summary: Once again King David shows us it is alright to be brutally honest with the Lord our God. God is with us when we struggle. A special intimacy is formed with God during the most intense challenges of life. We are reminded of Jesus crucifixion during the struggles King David writes about in this Psalm.
