March 25th 2020 Edition: Luke 23 & 24; Psalms 34
Luke 23 & 24 Summary: Jesus time has come to glorify His Heavenly Father through obedience to death on a cross. Following a mockery of a trial Jesus is sentenced to death. Even as Jesus earthly body is dying a criminal crucified with Him submitted to His Lordship and becomes a believer. In Jesus death the Old Testament law is fulfilled. Jesus blood shed as He dies redeems us. Great attention is given to Jesus burial. The gospel of Jesus Christ is affirmed when Jesus rises again and begins to appear before many witnesses. As Jesus disciples try to understand His crucifixion He reveals Himself to them. Following many appearances He ascends to be with God the Father. Jesus is making intercession for each one of us. As we learn to lean on Him we are preparing ourselves for our eternal home with Him forever. Psalm 34 Summary: As we struggle to know how to pray King David sets an example. The Lord Jesus is interested in hearing about our hardships, in addition to the highlights of life. We aren't required to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. As we humbly come before the Lord in prayer He will hear you and give you the grace to face your challenging days. As we lay our burdens down we realize Jesus' Lordship in our lives. It is natural to offer praises to Him during the most difficult times as we sense Him carrying the burden and walking along side of us in life's challenges.
