March 28th 2020 Edition: Deuteronomy 7, 8 & 9
With the Lord's faithfulness in delivering the Israelites from Egypt He desires to give them the Promised land Moses spoke about. The Lord is equipping the Israelites to take possession of the Promised land in a way the Israelites will realize it is the hand of God who is giving them the land. With the armies more stronger and numerous than the Israelites army it will be God won wins the battle to conquer the land. The Israelites are cautioned not to form alliances so the next generation will remain loyal to the living God. Attention is given to reminding the Israelites how God supplied their needs while living in the wilderness. The Israelites are encouraged to continue looking to the living God as their source of strength (not themselves) when they are established in the Promised land. If they forgot God great calamity will come to the Israelites. In giving the Israelites the Promised land the Lord is judging other nations. God is fulfilling His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that the Israelite people will become a great nation. Again the Israelite people are reminded how crucial it is that they remain obedient to the living God and live in His holiness or they will arouse the Lord's anger.
